Artist Statement

I love to explore as many mediums as possible though I prefer to work with colored pencils or acrylic paints.

I create a lot of portraits and figurative works. Specifically involving women. Almost all of the women in my artworks are based off of people I care about. I use art to explore my identity as a woman, especially as a woman that is part of the LGBTQIA+ community, my role in different relationships, and how the woman around me effect these roles. Which is part of why I name all of artwork with human female, or gender neutral names. These names typically have research put into them and their meanings. I enjoy studying the female body, and expressing my concerns of society's harsh judgement of it. I try to capture the beauty of any emotion, in any given second.

I include flowers into a lot of my works. I use them as a metaphor. Each having a meaning to me personally or a well-known symbol. I specifically select each type of flower that I use for each piece, it either connects to the person that the artwork is based around or is used as a hidden meaning. Which is partially why I spend so much time researching and planning each piece.

Another key factor in many of my works are the unusual color schemes. Though this is not present in all of my pieces, like the flowers add hidden elements to my pieces.

I enjoy working in extreme sizes, with some works being several feet wide and others only being an inch or two across.
